Hybrid operation of EasySolar is intended where a distribution network connected to its AC input is permanently available. In this mode, the unit prioritizes energy from the PV array and/or battery over energy from the grid. The hybrid function must be set up adequately in EasySolar (remotely or using the MK3-USB interface and VE.Configure 3 - not included). If a network is present, EasySolar is permanently connected to it, even when the network is not immediately needed (the battery is not discharged and the converter is not overloaded). A minimum amount of energy is continuously extracted and/or supplied from the network regardless of the current operating condition (small technical overflows into the network are present). Even when the distribution is connectedThe preferred energy consumption is from a photovoltaic array and/or a battery to power AC appliances. The photovoltaic array generates electrical energy that is preferably and directly supplied to the 230 VAC appliances through the inverter/charger without the presence of a battery. If the PV array output is higher than the consumer demand, the excess energy is stored adaptively in the battery by means of an MPPT controller. When the battery is charged, the MPPT controller automatically attenuates the power from the PV array (or the energy is partially supplied to the distribution grid depending on the setting). If the battery is discharged below the preset level, the draw from the PV array and the battery is terminated and the AC consumers are supplied fully from the distribution grid. Once the battery is partially charged from the PV system (by 5-10%), the AC consumers are again automatically charged from the PV array and/or battery. Once the AC consumption of the meter/charger is greater than 80-90% of the maximum continuous power of the meter/charger, the meter/charger will add additional power adequately from the grid (GridAssist function) to avoid overloading the meter. In the event of a grid blackout, AC consumer power and battery recharging from the PV array continues uninterrupted (EasySolar operation is completely independent of the grid). In the event of a grid failure, the battery is discharged to a deeper (defined) level than when the grid is present. At the same time, the AC consumer can only be energized up to its maximum continuous power rating. If the power is turned off during a power failure on a discharged battery and the power is subsequently restored, the switch/charger will automatically activate, start charging the AC consumer device and recharge the battery to the minimum preset value. In principle, this is called DC coupling. The system has the possibility to activate the function of protecting the lead-acid battery against the negative effect of long-term discharge (preferring to use solar energy to recharge the battery or to recharge the battery from the grid). EasySolar can be combined with a power converter(s) at the input or inputs (AC coupling) under certain conditions.
