Heating domestic water with solar panels is a very efficient way to reduce energy costs. Thanks to the New Green Savings Light programme, it is possible to obtain a subsidy for the installation of this system. The program is aimed primarily at seniors and lower income households. The subsidy from NWLight can cover up to 100% of the cost of the system.
A solar water heating system can cover up to 70-90% of annual hot water consumption, which means that for most of the year, heating is almost free. The biggest savings come during the spring, summer and autumn months.
The advantage is that the system operates automatically and has a long service life.
